"Go Dekkai or Go Home" NewYork Comic Con 2022
Hey! It’s been a little while again… I had to take a little trip to Sweden for personal reasons and hence had a little break. Back home now and back to the grind. You’ve been watching me on IG as I’ve been adding little details and paintwork to this masterpiece. Dekkai from Dragon76 and Martian Toys! How bloody awesome is he?
Absolute beast of a toy but so beautiful and fun to work on. I continue to explore a different side of Toy Customising, with my Asian-inspired approach. I feel at home here now, and I know it is in a way completely going against what most of you know me for. It is easy to put yourself into a box when you customise collectables. I don’t like sitting in a box. It makes me feel trapped and stressed and I want to run free with my creativity. Sometimes I almost feel like I have to apologise for straying from what I am known for. But I am working on myself right now and need to listen to myself. Therefore I will do what makes me feel happy and maybe not so much what is “Expected” of me. And that feels good I must say :)
It has been some time since you saw my customs at New York Comic Con and I’m excited to be part of it once more. I think this show, help by Martian Toys is going to be something special. From what I have seen so far, there are some incredible customs to see. If you’re attending NYCC don’t miss this! You’ll regret it!
These Peonies are starting to become a new signature style of mine. However, I continue to perfect and fine-tune them and think this one came out extra extra beautiful though to some of you I’m sure it just looks like another one of my peonies haha!
It is the first time, I think, that I’m working this sweeping smoke into my design. Something very therapeutic and mesmerizing about smoke. I found it very relaxing to paint it. As I have mentioned before, I love painting things, that don’t necessarily follow any strict rules, like bark and smoke. It is so liberating!
There were an awful lot of little details on this toy. Took me a long time just to go things over to make sure I hadn’t missed anything…. so many nuts and bolts.
He arrived in New York a few days ago. I’m always so nervous that things won’t arrive on time. But I was lucky once again and he is in safe hands. NYCC starts this Thursday 6th of October and runs all through the weekend till the 9th of October. You will find the Dekkai show at Martian Toys booth #1058.
